How To Apply
Are you thinking about becoming a resident in the Rendu Youth Residential program? If you are, here are a few things to think about.
The Rendu Youth Residential program is for young men who think that their life is not the way they want it to be and who are reasonably sure that this is at least partly the result of their misuse of drugs, alcohol or gambling.
- If needing a place to stay is the big issue in your life and you don’t see your drug, alcohol or gambling use as a problem then there are many other more appropriate accommodation services for you than Rendu. If necessary Rendu staff will assist you in accessing this alternative accommodation.
- The Rendu program requires a good deal of self-motivation; the Rendu staff are not teachers, parents or police. We will support and assist you in whatever you want to achieve but we can’t do it for you.
- Rendu is not an escape from the world or responsibilities. Clients are expected to work hard at developing themselves through participation in the program.
The program has a requirement for time spent in volunteer activity and attending groups. All residents have house responsibilities and are allocated chores. In later stages of the program residents are expected, as far as they are able, to be working or carrying out training or study to equip themselves to find work.
- Becoming a resident of the Rendu Youth Program involves agreeing to the procedures and rules that assist the program to run smoothly and for the residents to get maximum value from it. Trying to get around the guidelines just takes up everybody’s energy in an unproductive way.
